Thinking.....
I'm sitting here. Its late, about 2:30am, and I'm not sleepy. I finished my book so here I write. I read these books and it really gets me thinking, and I like that. I feel like I haven't thought seriously in a long time. I do not want this to consume me, but I really enjoy it. I love looking at God in a new light, a new perspective. I do not know if I totallly agree with McLaren on everything. I do on some things but on others I'm very skeptical. I just really like being challenged, and thinking about God in different ways. God will never be conformed, and I like that. I do think, as most emergents do, that the church needs to catch up to the culture. That as the world around it changes, so should the church. Not in a theologically sense, as McLaren states, although I do think changes could be made, but in a sense of reality. The church needs to be real. I think thats what the church needs so badly. Real people with real problems and real faith. That what has attracted so many people to Donald Miller and his writings. They feel real. Are they? Partially, I'm sure. We as a culture now are beginning to strive and long for real people. Christ was real. Paul was real. David was real (I mean he danced in the streets with little clothing and didn't care). I think some of the post-modern stuff is right but so is the modern. I don't really know where I stand on all the issues. All I know is that this generation, this culture is craving something real; real relationships, real love. I think Christ embodies this, but many people how there have a crazy view of Christ and the person He was on earth. Thats where we all come in. Real people bringing real relationships bringing real love. Christ is love. Real love. I desire to know and show this real love of Christ in my life. Everyone deserves love. Everyone needs love. Its time to love unconditionally, I mean seriously unconditionally, and show people, the best we can, the love of Christ, the love that comes from relationship not religion.
PEACE!
PEACE!
