Cue Staind... no but seriously alot has happened since my last blog. Christmas was one. Valentine's Day, Erin's b-day, lots of crazy things. But I was thinking tonight, I should blog, so here I am. I have a lot on my mind so I dunno what I should talk about first. Just keep checking back as I plan to write a lot in the next few weeks.
First order of business....
Should Christians be tolerate of gays??
This is a fairly big issue here in College Station. We are called by Christ to love our neighbors, our neighbors being everyone one we come in contact with (Matthew 19:19 and 22:39) but are we called to be tolerate. It clearly stated in 1 Corinthians 5 that if someone is a believer ( "a brother" (v.11) in the text) and is practicing sexual immorallity and a host of other things you should not be associated with ("with such a man do not eat" (v.11)) but it clearly states this as something that only applies to a believer (v.9-10). So what do we do about tolerance? Its been said that " A person who has tolerance believes in nothing", and thats how I feel. Do I love the person, yes. Do I want them to love me, yes. But I don't agree with the lifestyle, it goes against the clear teachings of scripture. How do I love them (them being sinners, not just homosexuals) but not come off harsh?
Just a tangent, I think the church has got a lot of this stuff wrong. We hang out in our Christian bubbles and with our Christian friends and listen to our Christian music. Christ chilled with the sinners, prostitues, and rejects. Our bubbles need to be popped and our lifestyles need to reflect love for all.
I think that might be why the church and homosexuals are such bitter enemies. We, as Christians have to pursue the lost and love everyone. Not tolerate, but love. Kill hate with kindness ( Romans 12:21).
Well thats it for now let me know what you think.
